Barclays Capital Appoints Stephen O'Sullivan as Managing Director, Head of Equity Research, Non-Japan Asia

Hong Kong – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen O'Sullivan as Managing Director, Head of Equity Research, Non-Japan Asia.

Stephen will be responsible for building the firm’s equity research platform across Non-Japan Asia, including Australia. He will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Stu Linde, Global Head of Equity Research and Jon Scoffin, Head of Research, Asia Pacific.

Stephen joins Barclays Capital from Macquarie Securities in Hong Kong, where since June 2007 he was Head of Research, Asia including Japan. Prior to this he was Head of EMEA & Latin American Research at Deutsche Bank. Stephen joined Deutsche Bank through its acquisition in 2005 of UFG, the Russian investment bank, in which Stephen was a partner for eight years. Stephen's personal rankings over that period included #1 EMEA oil & gas analyst by Institutional Investor and Extel, while his team in the same surveys attained #1 ranking Russia country research team, and on EMEA overall for 2006 and 2007. Prior to banking, Stephen's industry experience included time at BP and Total, as well as consulting in the oil, gas, nuclear and transport sectors.
