Robert J. Champion de Crespigny AC joins advisory panel of Barclays Capital’s Natural Resource Investments business

19 February 2010 London – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank Plc., today announced that it has appointed Robert J. Champion de Crespigny AC to the advisory panel for its Natural Resource Investments business, headed by Mark Brown.
Mr. de Crespigny is the founder and former Executive Chairman and CEO of Normandy Mining Limited until its merger with Newmont Mining Corporation in 2002. At the time of the merger it was Australia's largest gold company, among the top five gold companies in the world, and a substantial producer of base metals and industrial minerals. Mr. Champion de Crespigny has received several awards recognising his contribution to Australian business and the community, in particular the Companion of the Order of Australia, Australia's highest honour.
He is currently Chairman of Crosby|Textor Research Strategies Results, Non-Executive Director of S&B Industrial Minerals (Athens-based) and a Board Member of Oxford University's Said Business School.

Robert J. Champion de Crespigny AC, 59 (age) has had a long and distinguished career in the mining industry. He was founder, Chairman and Chief Executive of Normandy Mining Limited until its merger in 2002 with Newmont Mining Corporation. At the time of the merger it was Australia's largest gold company and in the top five gold companies in the world. It was also a substantial producer of base metals and industrial minerals.
Mr. Champion de Crespigny has served as Chairman of the Economic Development Board of South Australia, Chancellor of The University of Adelaide, Chairman of the South Australian Museum, Non-Executive Chairman of a number of publicly listed Australian companies, and Advisor to the Executive Committee of the South Australian Cabinet.
He has also been Australia's representative on the Commonwealth's Expert Group on Democracy and Development, Chairman of the Australian Gold Council, and also a Member of the Business Council of Australia, the Minerals Council of Australia and the National Gallery of Australia.
He has received several awards recognising his contribution to Australian business and the community, in particular the Companion of the Order of Australia, Australia's highest honour. The University of Adelaide has also awarded him a Doctorate for his services to the University.
Mr. Champion de Crespigny is currently Chairman of Crosby|Textor Research Strategies Results, Non-Executive Director of S&B Industrial Minerals (Athens-based) and a Board Member of Oxford University's Said Business School. He resides in the UK.
