資産査定に関する一部報道について

先週、国内外の一部メディアが、欧州銀行監督委員会（以下、「CEBS」）が欧州連合域内の91銀行を対象に今年7月に資産査定（以下、「ストレステスト」）を実施した際、バークレイズを含む一部欧州銀行が国債保有額の全容を開示していない旨を報じましたが、バークレイズのポジションは非常に明確です。

バークレイズは、他行と同様に、英金融サービス機構（FSA）の指示に従い、トレーディング資産の国債保有額も含めた上でエクスポージャーの開示を行っております。

また他行の多くとは異なり、バークレイズは、2010年上期の決算発表において一部の国の国債へのエクスポージャーも自発的に追加で開示しています。この開示内容は、2010年6月30日現在、これらの国（イタリアを含む）の国債に対するショート・ポジションを含めたグロスでのエクスポージャーを示すものです。当開示内容の詳細につきましては、Barclays PLC Interim Results Announcement 2010の74ページ（http://group.barclays.com/Investor-Relations）をご参照ください（ただし、CEBSの開示内容は2010年3月31日現在のため、バークレイズの開示内容とは多少の差異があります）。

International and local media last week carried reports that Barclays was one amongst a number of European banks that did not provide a comprehensive picture of their government debt holdings during the CEBS stress test on 91 of Europe's largest banks in July.

Barclays position is very clear.

Barclays did include government bonds exposures it was holding in its trading book in connection with the CEBS stress testing as instructed by the FSA - and in line with our UK peers.

In addition, unlike many other banks, Barclays gave additional disclosure of exposures to certain countries in the H1 results announcement (http://group.barclays.com/Investor-Relations). This disclosure shows Barclays exposure to government bonds for those countries (including Italy) as at 30 June 2010 gross of short positions. Therefore, if investors are interested they may look at this disclosure. (Note that CEBS disclosure is as at 31 March.)
