Barclays Capital makes senior appointments in Investment Banking Asia Pacific

Vanessa Koo joins as Managing Director, Mergers & Acquisitions James Lim appointed Head of Real Estate, Asia Pacific

Hong Kong - Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, today announced the appointment of two senior executives in Hong Kong. Vanessa Koo joins Barclays Capital as Managing Director, Mergers & Acquisitions focusing on Greater China, and James Lim as Managing Director, Head of Real Estate, Asia Pacific.

Vanessa Koo joins as a senior Managing Director to provide world-class M&A advice to clients, drawing on more than a decade of experience. Ms Koo joins Barclays Capital from Goldman Sachs, where she was most recently Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for China. She joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 1998, before moving to Hong Kong in 2000. She has worked on a variety of high profile M&A transactions in the region, including advising ING on the sale of its Asian equities platform to Macquarie; Bank of Overseas Chinese on its sale to Citigroup and advising China Resources Enterprise on its stake sale in Esprit China.

James Lim will be responsible for investment banking coverage in the real estate sector across all products and countries in Asia Pacific. Mr Lim joins Barclays Capital from BNP Paribas where he was Head of Real Estate Investment Banking. Previously, he held a similar position with Lehman Brothers. Notable transactions he has led include the Sands China IPO, the rights issue for K-Reit, the follow-on placement for Shiu On Land and the IPO for DLF Limited.
