Hong Kong, 5 October 2010 – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, today announced the appointment of Edward King as Managing Director and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, IBD Asia Pacific.
Based in Hong Kong, Mr King will work to accelerate the firm’s momentum in the continued expansion of its advisory capabilities in Asia Pacific to offer clients a consistent global approach with local expertise. “With more than 20 years of coverage and advisory experience, Ed brings impeccable credentials as a world-class advisory professional to our global investment banking franchise," commented Paul Parker, Chairman and Head of Global M&A.
Mr King has built lasting client relationships across a broad range of sectors and geographies, and has held leadership positions globally whilst demonstrating outstanding M&A advisory skills. Previously, he served as Head of Morgan Stanley’s China M&A business, with extensive experience advising global and Chinese multinational companies with respect to their China and international expansion strategies. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1999, he was with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York and Hong Kong, where he was a founding member and later Head of the Asia M&A group.
During his career, Mr King has advised governments, leading corporations and private equity firms on a variety of transactions around the world.
